The committee studying the feasibility of a
merger of city and county government wants a diverse
group of community leaders involved in its endeavor
before taking the idea to a public vote.
It has been almost 30 years since the community
last voted on a proposal to merge the two governments
and about 12 years since the idea was last examined.
A lot has changed since then, and a committee of
four City Council members wants as much information
as possible before making a recommendation on the
