KIEFER'S GOALS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Creating Jobs and Economic Growth
Continues to push and work for I-69. Works closely with I-69 proponents, the governor, and the local chamber of commerce.
Working with businesses to grow and bring jobs to Evansville.
Improving Roads and Traffic
Continues to work with INDOT to eliminate lights off the Lloyd Expressway. Newest plans call for removing lights on the Lloyd at US Hwy 41 and at Fulton Avenue within the next few years. Long term plans call to eliminate them all the way from Hwy 41 to the University of Southern Indiana.
Working with transportation planners to pave streets & improve traffic flow.
Fighting for Lower Taxes
Sponsored Homestead Tax Exemption resolution for Evansville Residents.
Voted each year to extend Homestead Tax Credit.
Making Government more Accountable and Responsive
Worked in a bi-partisan fashion to accomplish getting city council meetings televised on public television.
Pushing to implement one call number for complaints and concerns - 311.
Investing in our Youth and Families
Striving to improve quality of life in Evansville by improving our parks & recreation, job growth, public safety, and quality schools.
Work closely with members of the EVSC and its school board. Joe also is a supporter of USI, U of E, and Ivy Tech along with other public and private schools.

Central Labor Councile endorses candidates
The Central Labor Council endorsed four candidates for three at-large seats. They are: Incumbent Democrats Curt John and Keith Jarboe, Democrat Dan Adams and incumbent Republican Joe Kiefer.

September 21, 2007>>
Stadium talk commands candidates forum
While Republicans and Democrats debated whether bond money would be needed, at-large Republican Councilman Joe Kiefer said Evansville taxpayers should not bear the burden alone.

September 20, 2007>>
FOP endorses Weinzapfel, bipartisan slate for council
Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel was endorsed Wednesday for a second term by the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge's political action committee. The FOP also announced its backing of a bipartisan slate of Evansville City Council candidates.
